The final competition of the year, the November Monthly for the Freespirit Images Shield was won by Gwynfryn Jones when his first placed print entitled ‘Not a good day for umbrellas’ was deemed overall competition winner by judge Les Loosemore. The second placed print was from Leigh Woolford with ‘Atop Mýrdalsjökull’ which also wins the award for the most unpronounceable title of the evening.
First in the DPI section was ‘Kingfisher Threat Posture’ by Alec Stewart and second was ‘And The Heavens Opened’ by Nicholas Jenkins, he almost won his own shield!!!
All four photos progress to our Picture of the Year competition next Thursday.

In Tuesdays Rhondda battle, Gwynfa finished first on 108 points from Western Valley 2nd on 106 points and Bridgend 3rd on 104 points.
Chris Tidman had the award for the best portrait with “Medieval Maiden“. Adrian Lant won the best overall image with “Paul Cooper” both scoring the only 20 points on the night.
The judge, Adrian Herring ARPS, DPAGB did a great job using a wide variety of scores ranging from 12 – 20.
