Warwick - So Near and Yet So Far!
Gwynfa finished joint first in the plate final of the National DPI Championships at Warwick but failed to collect the trophy after a nail biting tie break. As far as we know it is the best ever performance by a Welsh club in this prestigious national competition.
Hornbill Challenge - Silver for Leigh
In the recent Hornbill Welsh Invitation Challenge organised by Neath Camera Club Leigh Woolford achieved a silver medal for second place in the open section for his photograph entitled Logan Rock From St Levan. The following photographs were also accepted:
Gwynfa Fourth in the Barrian Cup
The 2011 Barrian Cup took place on Saturday 4th June at Barry’s usual venue of the St Francis Millenium Hall, Barry. Opened by councillor John Clifford, Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, the event was judged with effortless expertise by the popular Leo Rich ARPS DPAGB APAGB EFIAP. In a very close run competition Gwynfa finished joint fourth but the final result wasn’t known until the last photograph was out of the box.
The 2011 Memorial Trophy was hosted by Tenby & District Camera Club in Saundersfoot and a very close affair concluded with Tenby and Western Valley (both on 69 points) finishing a whisker ahead of Ebbw Vale (68) and Gwynfa (67). The only other clubs in the runnning were Inn Focus and Port Talbot (both on 65).
