For 2012 we will have a revised competition format. Full details can be found below:
Special Challenge Competitions - A second 'Projected Images' competition has been added so there will be a Monochrome Projected Images Challenge and a Colour Projected Images Challenge to go along side the existing Colour & Mono Print Challenges. The first and second placed photographs from each of these four challenges will advance to 'Winner of Winners' night (**NB. Winner of Winners night is being renamed - see below). These challenges will all be 'open' subject..
Monthly Competitions - As now, there will be nine monthly competitions (five open and four themed). Monthly competitions will be open to both prints and projected images. However, from 2012 we will be asking our judges to award first and second places in both the prints and the projected images. These four photographs will progress to **Winner of Winners night. The judge will also be asked to select just one overall winner (either a print or a projected image). That overall winner will earn the photographer the monthy cup.
Number of entries - This remains unchanged at one entry per member for each of the monthly comptitions and special challenges.
The Winter Exhibition - The first, second and third placed photographs together with the Best on a Welsh Theme will all progress to Winner of Winners night.
**Winner of Winners night will, from 2012, be known as our 'Picture of the Year' competition. There will be a total of 56 photographs in this competition (36 from monthly comps, 16 from special challenges and 4 from the winter exhibition). On the night of the event, members will be asked to select their top three prints and their top three projected images. These scores will be added to give us both a Print of the Year and a Projected Image of the Year. In addition to this, the photograph with the highest number of votes overall (either print or projected image) will be deemed overall 'Picture of the Year' and will appear on the front cover of our club handbook for the following year.
Photographer of the Year - This remains largely unchanged although the total number of competition will increase from 12 to 13. However, as now, only your ten best scores will be counted towards your merit table total thus allowing some leeway for holidays or illness etc. The photographer with the highest total from ten scores will be deemed Photographer of the Year.
